Brindley

Another project is in the books ....or more accurately,  on the fence. This ranch-style fence came out great. It's intended to go over the driveway, and the owner is doing that himself. Can't wait to see some pics.

Golden Canopy update ~ Super Fan

Great story on validation of my art: Friday night at the artist reception for Art Rapids! a volunteer, after viewing my name tag, remarked he had recently seen and enjoyed my sculpture in the park. Big Smile.
Later, after a small repair to my sculpture, I witnessed a young lady (~10yo) interpret what she saw to her uncle. He was great at encouraging her to do it. We struck a conversation and they both flipped out when they learned I was the artist. He remarked that they get to the enjoy the works but never get to meet the artists. I posed for a picture with the young lady in front of my piece, and they were both so excited. It was a GREAT moment for me!

I saw her the next morning eating breakfast with her family. She whispered to her mom, through a huge smile, that I was 'the artist'. What a boos
t!! Thank you little lady, and your uncle, for making my weekend special.

Scrapfest 2014

Description:IRON IN THE BLOOD
The goal of our project was simply to have fun, and showcase the transformation of scrap into decorative elements using heat and hammer - a 100lb power hammer to be exact! After all, we are a team of blacksmiths.
The creativity and collaboration this year was truly exciting. The team knew going into collection day that we wanted to do a kinetic piece. We also wanted to utilize solid steel that we could form into something artistic, though designs would be determined after we found such pieces.

Success. We present: Evil Bunny's Lair
The spark for this piece was the aluminum letter 'R', lying on the floor inverted to resemble bunny ears. From there the ideas flowed (beauty from trash piles) and changed (Easter Bunny-ish)…and took a darker tone (Evil Bunny lair). His abode is an eclectic mix of wind-powered technology, and natural briars to protect him from predators. It is a display of contrasts; bright vs. dark, smooth vs. rough, organic vs. geometric, static vs. kinetic, cuddly vs. dangerous. It's this dichotomy, and our attention to detail, that makes this piece so visually engaging.

Who doesn't love a bunny… an evil bunny?!

Height: 10 ft. Width: 4 ft. Depth: 5 ft.
