The REO Town Commercial Association (RTCA) along with the Great Lakes
Collective is organizing the second annual Art Attack! Festival. The Art
Attack! will take place on Saturday, September 8th, 2012 from 12n until
11pm at the open lot at the corner of S Washington Ave and E Malcolm X
St. Art Attack! is open to all ages and artists.
This community
art and music festival will feature the finest paintings, printmaking,
photographs, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, jewelry,
woodwork, metalwork, glass, and rock, rap, and folk that Michigan
artists and musicians have to offer. REO Town, itself, is experiencing a
major transformation, both though independent artists and investment in
the community.
The Showdown in REO Town will take place from 12n until 7pm. The Showdown is an art competition in which local artists and art enthusiasts will show off their prowess and process to
the masses. Contestants, either individually or in teams, will have six
hours to create their works, on-site and in full view of the public.
This year, the Showdown will encompass the theme of "Rebuilding REO" and basic building materials will be available for use by contestants who
may use whatever materials in whatever medium they desire.
The
2nd Annual REO Town Art Attack! Festival will also feature 18 bands from
across the state performing on two stages for a fun-filled day of
family-friendly entertainment. Performers vary from hip-hop to folk,
from rock to funk.
Concert Tickets are available, in advance, at
www.reotownartattack.com for just $5 or the day of the event for $8. Kids 12 & under are free and ticket
